Default 2004 polaris sportsman 500 ho clutch problems

Heres the problem I am a rookie. I bought my polaris this sring and on my first wekend the belt shredded. I replaced it but last week I started having problems with the quad staying running when at a stop. I pulled the clutch cover off to discover the belt was garbage again and the drive clutch was jambed. A piece of metal that seems to be a spacer according to clutch diagrams was jamming things up. I am lost as to how the spacer could come out. Every thing else seems to be in great shape. Any help would be appreciated. The piece of metal was not letting the clutch open up all the way.

Could need to have the front clutch fiber and inner brass washer replaced on the one way bearing in the front clutch. If you don't want to invest in a puller or spider tool, best to let a qualified dealer look at it. Also rear rollers, washer may need to be looked at along with clutch alignment to front drive clutch as you say its creeping and eating up belts. OPT
