sportsman 800 loud tick pwr loss
#1
Hi all,
I got a friend that has a 2004 Sportsman 800. Just recently it started to lose power at about 35mph, also when this happens a loud tick starts on the right side.
The wheeler will run great for the first ten min or so going down the road at 60, then all the sudden it looses power, wont go over 35 and has this loud tick. The tick stays insync with the motor so I'm guessing its a valve or something. Just woundering what your opinion would be.
Thanks again,
Josiah

Welcome to the forum! 2004 model?? 800 came out in 2005. First I would check compression! From your description sounds like trying to piston trying to seize. If compression is good, then could be a fuel delivery problem, fuel pump weak on pressure?? Plus check for obstructions in tank vent line or fuel filter may need replacement??. OPT
