Default Why did Polaris quit making sport quads?

On another part of the forum someone said, "...just make sure you steer clear of Polaris, they stopped making sports quads for a reason, they just couldn't figure it out." This isn't the first time I saw someone post that Polaris couldn't figure it out, couldn't do it right, didn't know what they were doing, or something of that nature. So what's the real reason Polaris quit making sport quads?

also heard that from somewhere, but I never paid it any attention...

polaris makes some of the nicest water, off road & snow machines out there- can't imagine they would have any "problem" getting back into the sport quad arena There was a time where the outlaw was on my top 5 "want to own" atv list... then I got into 4x4's

just like if honda ever wanted to put the time into designing an amazing off road atv with all the current features, I'm sure they could easily do it.

I just figured it was people talking crap

They may think the market may not be big enough to put all the time and effort into it. Thats what I would think.

KTM bought Polaris's 25% share in their company a few years back, but allowed em to continue the Outlaw for awhile (2011). Now no more Outlaw! Predator out after 2007. Think they just wanted to go back to the bread and butter, plus when the Razr came out, then the Ranger Crew, plus the atv lineup, just too much money to be made to mess with the sport quads! Just my old OPT

I’m on the same page here too. And this is not fact but just observation... Too many models equal hard to optimize the product. There are only so many designers and engineers to cover the lineup. The sport market must not have been a big money maker for Polaris so out they go. General Motors has done the same thing. Cut back on models, consolidate resources, reduce costs and focus on the money models.
Buy the way I just recently bought my first sport quad. A 2003 Predator. What a different experience from the 800 X2. Its a blast but I think I need to replace or rebuild the front shocks. My X2 is so smooooooth.....

It's a bummer to see the Outlaw go. Makes me even more glad I have one with the KTM engine that i purchased new. I always laugh at the people who say polaris can't built a sport that's why they got out of it. I've yet to run into a sport ATV that can keep up with the 525 IRS on trails. I'm wondering if Polaris will do like Arctic cat and do a sport ish IRS 4X4 bike like the one Arctic cat went to. Scammy needs to be replaced.
