stupid question

To be honest I haven't even looked at it.
All I've done is check the oil (engine noisier than I'm used to; in fact the whole machine is noisier than I'm used to) and put gas in it.

Nope, no cooling fins and really nothing there to inspect. It's a sealed, brushless motor and as stated before if you look at it and it is still there then I guess it's good to go. As for how it steers without the PS, it's hard to say unless you shut the key off while you are riding, which I haven't really felt the need to do.
I know when it is just sitting it is eaiser to turn the bars than the wifes 500.

From personal experience as of today when the EPS goes out it is more difficult to steer than an ATV that does not have EPS.
It quit working and the EPS light and the check engine light came on and the EPS quit working. I shut off the ATV and let it sit for a minute and restarted it with no change so I rode it home (a very short distance).
I went out 1/2 hour later and started it and it was working with no warning lights.

A buddy I ride with (550 EPS) hit the kill switch by accident while riding last time out. After he restarted it he had problems with the PS cutting out. We took a break and he shut it off for about 15 min. After starting back up, no more problems. Don't know what to make of that.
