Does the power steering fluid in the XP's steering box ever have to be changed?

 

its electronic power steering so it doesn't have any fluid to change

 

as stupid as you thought your question was- I bet you were not expecting to get that answer from awsume800

- it's actually not a stupid question at all, most people assume the ps on an atv is hydraulic because it is in their vehicle- but atv's use electric motors like stated above

 

yea i wish they would let me spell that correctly, hey beergut where were you stationed at i was at camp pendleton for the last three years i was in i was way up north in San Mateo

 

I was stationed at pendleton (camp devil dawg & 29 palms) back in... 96 spent most of my time out in the desert blowing things up

My owners manual says the power steering unit needs to be inspected daily and cleaned often.

I checked it today and it was still there.

It lists 12 pre-ride items and 5 items to check daily.

Air filter weekly and brake pad wear monthly.

 

I'm assuming those motors are brushless

... so there's probably not very much you can do- like you said, it's still there

wonder how it effects the atv steering when the unit isn't working, does it just feel like an atv with no ps?- (I've never had an atv with ps)

 

I'm told it acts like it doesn't have PS. It works with just the key turned on.

 

Any cooling fins on the EPS unit to keep clean?......
