Should I buy the 2011 850 XP?
#1
Hello,
Sorry for asking so many purchasing questions, but I was almost ready to make the move to a 2012 800 EFI and then came across a 2011 850 XP (No EPS) for $7,800. Should I get the 850 for an extra $800? This seems like a no brainer but I've heard a lot of issues with the 2011 850... well... maybe just a few "Oil in air filter" and "Belt issues". So are these issues "BIG ISSUES" or isolated incidents? Also, if they are not isolated, are they something to be very concerned about?
Also, is the 2011 850 any different than the 2012 850?
Thanks for the help.
<<<<<< BTW, this is hilarious! Ahahahah!

I'd go 850 between those two if it's only $800 more . The 2012 has has some changes over the 11 .
NEW! High Output engine is 20% faster off the line.
NEW! Upgraded throttle bodies, smoother throttle response.

I would have a hard time buying a new ATV without power steering.
Here's a video on the changes to the 550 Touring chassis and engine.
Most off it if not all also applies to the 850. 800s and 850s are two differnt machines.

Polaris did soo many things right with these new XPs I feel they're worth the extra money. If you have it spend it.

Purchased my 2011 850 XP with EPS almost a year ago, have 2350 trouble free km on it. Only thing that I have changed were the tires, (besides all the fluid changes) upgraded the tires to the Bighorns. As previously said, if you can afford the extra for the power steering, go for it!.
