Default 2010 SP 500 quit while riding, wont start.

2010 SP 500 HO quit while riding. wouldn't start. Engine cranks but wont start Checked battery-good, even tried jumping it, but no luck. towed it home. Engine cranks but no start. found No Spark,Checked the starting coil, and thought it was bad so replaced it with a new coil along with its primary cable and spark plug boot, and new spark plug. same thing again, cranks (kinda Hard) but no start. The instrument cluster and lights work. im hoping its a module or relay thats bad.

Any suggestions. again this stalled in the middle of riding.

Thanks

So does it currently have spark or not?

My friend Bgirard420 (on this forum) has that machine and had a bad fuel pump that would cause the machine to quit in the middle of a ride. We were able to re-prime it with fuel and get the machine going again on the trail but the problem kept re-occurring until that pump was replaced.

This happened to him when the machine was just about brand new.

Hope this helps.

if the flywheel key broke while it was being driven, it wouldn't make it stall. It just would not start again after it was shut off.

Im leaning towards a ignition module, or relay. something electrical. Can someone point me towards the ignition module?

Thanks

Default Found the problem.

Finally opened up the clutch cover to check things out. Holy crap, the belt was toast. All frayed and totally deteriorated, looked like a hundred shoe laces wrapped and bound around the shaft locking it down tight. After getting all the crap cut out and a major cleaning, put on the spare belt and she started right up.
Spent to much time thinking it was electrical when it was a lousy belt!

Thanks for the help.

Glad you found your problem how many miles on your belt . For comparison my 500 belts are lasting 5000 miles or more .

Were you running in high range alot when you should have been in low? I've never heard or seen of a belt getting that bad without some serious abuse. Used properly an oem belt should get you a couple thousand miles at the very least.
