Clutching is not a hp increase mod, like a pipe , carb or cam change.

Clutching is more a riding preference, where you take from one area to help another.

Clutch for top end gain and you lose from the bottom end and Vice versa . Most people clutch when going to larger tires for more bottom.

Aaen $250 stage 1 (cheapest) is a pipe change, they claim "Max power with the Muffler increases to 40 HP @ 6600 RPM and Max torque increased to 33.7 Ft/Lbs @ 4800 RPM, 600 RPM lower than the stocker. This mod represents a 7% power gain over stock. "

I like the looks of there Stage 2 , Pipe and 42mm TMX carb.

There claim of the carb is

"The 42 TMX Carb has many advantages. Airflow is up 20% compared to the stock carb and throttle response is instant instead of having to wait for vacuum to build up as on the stock CV carb. The TMX carb is not sensitive to Air box vacuum like the stock carb and the box can be differently modified or the carb can be run with a straight Racing Filter for better power"

I added some 25" mud wolf tires and I can tell a difference between them and stock. That's what I want to make up for.

If all your looking to do is regain lost power from a heavier/more aggressive tire then I'd just try the clutch kit first. It'll be the most cost effective solution. You might even gain a little more umph on the bottom end compared to the OE. set-up.

I would love to buy an 850 but the 500 was more pocket book friendly

I,m a power fanatic with my snowmobiles, because they ride on open lakes at 100+ mph.

But atvs spend 99% of there time on slow rough 20 mph trails. I ride with guy on 800 ATVs that can get anywhere quicker then the guy on a 300.

Don't let the hp numbers fool you. Its all in how you get it to the ground. Clutching clutching clutching!

The 500 has plenty of power you just need to get it clutched properly.I wouldnt go to EPI but rather do a set up that I have ran on multiple 500s go with a Dalton blk/white primary spring,10MB(a little more excelleration)10RH for a little more pulling power over the 10MB
on the secondary if you have the old style clutch go to a Aaen blue secondary set at 2-2.If you have the TEam roller cluch go with a little stiffer spring.
this set up you wont loose power anywhere but gain on bottom and mid.
