WARN CUSTOMER SERVICE
#1
Anyone had experience with Warn's customer service? I just had a 1 month old 2500 crap out. The lever that engares/disengages the free spool poped off. ( I was VERY stuck in snow when this happened!!!) It looks like a snap ring let go and caused it and three little cogs to come out of place.
I hope there wont be any problems returning this.

regnar,
I striped out the gears on my Warn2000 a couple of years ago. The ones the planetary gears run on. It was out of warrenty but I called Warn anyway. They shiped me a brand new side case(the same one you are in need of)for under 20 bucks! I guess I'd have to say there service is very good.

Regnar:
A few years back, a buddy of mine and I were out in his Jeep and managed to break a gear inside the Warn XD9000i. Luckily nobody was hurt during the procedure, and we did make it out of the mess, but as this relates to Warn's customer service, I must say it was excellent. The winch itself was about a year and a half old-at least 6 months out of the warranty period. I called them up and asked what we should do, they said to UPS the winch back to them for inspection. A short time later, we received a completely rebuilt XD9000i, and a reimbursement check for the original UPS shipment! They said that one of the main gears had stripped, and appeared to be a manufacturer defect, so they made good on it. I've used Warn for years, nearly every full sized winch they make and now the "little brother" in the A2000 on my 'Cat. If "Brand Loyal" is the proper word for it, then yeah, I am-not only do they make a great product, but their customer service is excellent in my book. FYI-that same XD9000i is still in operation, now on a different Jeep!
Best of luck,
Mike

UPDATE
I talked to warn this morning. To my suprise he asked my the problem and told me what was the fix was. He asked me for my address and told me I would have the right half of the winch by friday. Although the winch is in warranty, that issue never came up. He semed to know about the problem and never gave it a second thought.
They just got a customer for life.

That side lever popping off is a common problem with the winches, that is why they didn't even bother to ask you how old your winch is. Mine popped off as well last april, while I was in Moab for a week. It was during the Easter Jeep Safari, so they had a booth set up in town. I talked to the Warn guys, and they knew exactly what I was talking about.
I had to send it to the rocky mountain region repair place, which for me happened to be Fort Collins 4x4 in Fort Collins, CO. They called me as soon as they recieved the winch (I had to send the whole thing to them, and they replaced the lever) to let me know that they only had a black lever in stock, and that I could either wait a few weeks for a grey one to match the winch, or I could take the black one now. I told them I was going on another big trip soon, and I would take the black one so that I could get it back asap.
Unfortunately, the guy fixed my winch, then set it aside and forgot about it. I waited a few weeks, and called back to see what was up. After looking around awhile, they finally found it and sent it to me. Aside from a absent minded employee, and the fact that the thing broke on me the first time that I used it for anything other than lifting my snow blade, I was pretty happy.
It's a good thing I go the winch back for the trip, my Ford F250 slid off a muddy trail getting to my campsite, and I used my SP500 and Warn 2500 with a jerry-rigged ****** block to help pull my truck out of the ditch. I would have REALLY been screwed if I didn't have that winch!
