Default 99 Scrambler 4x4 cuts out after reverse

After about 15 minutes of plowing (forward & reverse) the 4x4 doesn't work. The light is out on the selector switch. After letting it sit for several minutes it works fine then it stops working. However if I keep it in forward it will work for the ride. I check the switch on the gear case, here is what happens with a ohms meter
(with the switch out of gear case)
pin 1 power (Red wire)
Pin 2 open _ nothing when switch is activated
pin 3 closed - open when switch is activated
pin 4 open - closed when switch is activated

Is this functioning correctly?

Thanks in advance,
Rick

Welcome to the forum! Sounds like the gear case gear position indicator is working, but unplug the black wire under the panel on the reverse limiter module, probably getting hot and ready to fail. See if it does better. These were a safety feature that never held up. Plus not a bad idea if you haven't changed hub fluid in a while to do this too. OPT

Thanks OPT
While I was in there found the bell crank broken. Once replaced I'll try it out.
If thats the issue, there will be no problem keeping it that way?

Follow up question- Disconnecting the black wire will disconnect the override button, right? So this will result in full power in reverse?
Thanks
