Default 06 Sportsman 700 won't idle

I fixed almost all the many issues with my project quad, except for one....I've cleaned the carb...twice..but it still will not idle below 2000 rpm...It runs smoothly and pulls hard otherwise. I've removed all the jets and the pilot screw and cleaned every passage with a piece of fine wire and compressed air. Anybody have an idea of what I might be missing? Has anyone had this problem with a carbed sportsman? I think it has to be a blockage somewhere in the carb....

Have you checked the intake manifold especially under the carb clamp for a split in the manifold? This could be sucking air and could be the cause of the idle problem. This is easily overlooked because most people don't remove the clamp and I've had several split there.Check this out first. OPT

Thanks for the reply OPT, I did look briefly at the manifold when I last had the carb off, after seeing a previous post about them splitting, but did not think to remove the clamp, I will double check that area thoroughly again this afternoon. I will be a happy camper if that is the problem....

Well its purring like a kitten now, but it wasn't the manifold or the pilot jet. After fiddling with both adjustments, and looking the manifold over I noticed the throttle cable seem to have some slop in it...I adjusted that, then readjusted the other jets at she settled down to a nice idle.

Now when my kits come in to rebuild the master cylinders, it may actually stop AND go....

Thanks for the help....
