Default Polaris scrambler 500 dies when it gets warm

Ok my 97 Scrambler 500 4x4 will start and runs fine but if im crawling around my forest and after it warms up it will die on me and cant get it to fire back up it , I can start it with the choke fully pulled out but still dies rite away! And I have to let it cool off before I can fire it back up This is consistent but ive taken it out on the trails and ran a mile or two and it seems fine so I thought my raditor is clogged but I cleaned the raditor good and still dies on me and my temp light never came on and I know it works
why would it start and drive fine until it warms up then cut out?

Could be fuel related OR lack of fuel (tank vent tube partially kinked, fuel pump sucking air) or electrical problem. Stator or other components breaking down after it gets warm, etc. Check out the fuel system first, fuel flow, venting, contaminated fuel, etc.Plus not a bad idea to check the valve clearance and the cam for any exhaust lobe wear. Well I just installed a new stator and pick up along with a new cdi and voltage regulator
I know I need to replace my rpm limter I had to disconnect it cause it wouldnt let it rev up without holding the override buttton, could that cause the issue? I plan on rebuilding the carb and fuel pump along with new fuel lines

If you've disconnected the black wire on the limiter, then it won't have any effect on it. You've essentially eliminated the limiter completely. I wouldn't replace the limiter. Just a safety device a lot of other brands of atvs don't have or need that fails all the time. OPT

have you had the valves adjusted? could be when it warms up they are tight enough where it looses compression. just a thought.

I set the valves a year ago now but I will double check them when I go to rebuild the carb and fuel pump!

chances are thier fine if you just did them. just a shot in the dark. most likely an eletronic piece breaking down when it gets hot as mentioned. good luck.

the weird thing is is doesnt cut out on me when it warm, it shuts off after i beat on it for 15 or 20 mins and the fan does turn on and off during that time! but one thing i sure was a bad idea but i had a snorkle on the quad and i put new palstic on front and was in a rush and just wanted to ride so i left my clutch tube inside the plastics up top by the handle bar and circuit board could that have cause the problems?? i moved it half way through the day but still had the same problem! any help would be greatly appreciate it
the quad is 6 hours away and i would like to know every problem it could be so i can be prepared when i go up there so hopefully i can get it running good i dont mind just though parts at it i wanna replace everything so i can make it a reliable atv again! sorry about the long post

Have you popped the front panel and looked for any wiring shorts in the harness where it goes up by the steering post and headlight pod area? Could be as simple as that. Plus when it dies on you pull the plug wire, have a spare plug handy and see if you have spark,if not pull the plug cap and check the bare wire against the cylinder to see if you have spark. OPT
