HELP! 2008 sportsman 500 HO carb. over charging

This model should have all the grounds on the left frame just in front of the battery then! It's gradually coming back to me as I get the earlier models out of my brain! Still think you have a bad control module from the very start!! Especially if it's charging up to 17 plus volts! Can suck that new battery dry from overheating if you don't change it. OPT

Its brand new right from polaris warehouse.....they said no warranty when i bought it...now what do i do? Thank you for all your help.

Could it be the black box (cdi) above the ecm?

Nope, the cdi just handles ignition. Think you just got a bad control module. Plus makes it even worse if you can't return it since you bought it online. .This is probably one of the few times getting it from a dealer would have helped. A good one would have replaced it for you. OPT

I had the same problem with my 07 a couple years ago. May not be your problem but check this out. http://forums.atvconnection.com/pola...rcharging.html After having the polaris mechanic double check my stator he found a short on one of the three legs of the stator which caused the over charge situation. He also stated it was a little strange it was over charging instead of not putting out enough voltage but it can happen. The new stator fixed the issue and not one more problem since.
