95 Xplorer 400 wont shut off
#1
So I have a Xplorer 400 that runs great most of the time... but sometimes when it gets warmed up it will start to run bad, cough and sputter around, and after a bit it will pull out of it and run great again. While it is doing this when I turn off the key or the kill switch it wont shut off.
When it pulls out of the cough and sputtering it will shut off with the switch. While it is doing this if i pull the coil wire it will die.
Got any ideas? I was thinking CDI but not sure.

Welcome to the forum! Could be the cdi but check the black wire from the cdi into the harness that ties into the left control kill switch. Plus check the ignition switch harness wiring under the headlight pod. This area is bad about shorts from wiring movement. Plus make sure all brown (ground wires) are secure. Could just be as simple as a faulty ignition switch. If you have an ohm meter you can check it out. OPT

Well the ignition switch and wiring has already been replaced. I pulled apart the left kill switch assy and pulled the wires and checked everything. it all looked good. I cleaned and put it all back together. I will pull and check all the wire at the termination board tomorrow as well as clean all the connections that i can.
