I have an '07 Polaris Sportsman 700. After mounting a gas can to the hood I now have an issue with hood vibrating the latches open.

Any suggestions for replacement latches which either lock or require a two step process to open (ie: push in and turn)?

I have a rotopax mounted on my front lid 07 sp500 and have never had issues. Come to think of it, the latches are a little on the snug side because of the seal. Are you missing the seal or is it worn out? I could see vibrations causing the latches to turn without any tension on them, but the gas can shouldn't cause a problem.

 

The seal looks to be in decent shape. I'll try adding a little piece of foam on top of the seal to increase pressure on the latch to see if that helps.
