Default New to me 2007 Polaris Trail Boss 330... Where to start?

I just acquired a 2007 Polaris Trail Boss 330. I am new to the Polaris Brand and the more Trail type or ATV's so I am looking for some opinions...

I would like to know your thoughts on where to start in regards to:
#1: What to check? Maintenance? Problem areas? etc...
#2: What are the "must have" modifications or accessories?

I changed the oil & plug. Trans fluid and air filter look OK. I am trying to get the idle right, it is either too high to put in gear without grinding or so low it stalls out. I think the carb needs a good re-build.

I am a heavy guy, (300+ lbs), so I am assuming I should set the pre-load on the shocks to the highest mark? I ride mainly in the desert, so hot weather on hard pack trails, sandy river beds, rock piles and hills.

Any opinions on inexpensive storage, mirrors, brush guards, extra gas, or any advice from someone with a similar quad or situation would be appreciated.

I previously had a Yamaha Warrior which was modified for more sport/race type riding, but it was just too loud/fast/rough to do a lot of trails with the family in tow. My daughter has a Kymco Mongoose 90, and this 330 will eventually be turned over to the wife once she learns to ride and I buy myself a nice 4x4 with a big engine.

Clunking, kinda grinding going into gear was normal on the 325 and 330 gear cases.Just have the idle at a normal level. I would definitely preload the rear shock, plus make sure the chain has between 3/8 to 1/2" slack between the sprockets with no load. This is an eccentric rear drive(front sprocket level with swing arm) and doesn't affect the chain slack when loaded down. If you strap the rear end down and adjust the chain(as some of the manuals still show) the chain will be too loose. Use Polaris AGL in the gear case. Plus grease all fittings especially the rear axle housing. Other owners can give you their OPT

As far an engine vibration on the 330, how much is normal?

At higher RPMs it isn't bad, but at idle & very low RPM the engine is producing quite noticable vibrations. You can feel the shaking and see the engine/trans jumbling around quite a bit. Once you give it some gas it settles down and becomes a more normal vibration.

Check that the front and rear engine mounts haven't separated causing it to vibrate more than normal. Other than that the 325 and 330 did vibrate a bit at idle and also coming down from high speed to an idle they would shake a little. Just the nature of the machine and the rubber engine mounts. OPT
