Default Look what I found

I found this bumper laying in the road yesterday. I have no idea what model ATV it's actually made for, but I figure with a little fabrication I can make it fit my Scrambler and build a winch mount into it.

Looks like something made for the 450 sport quad crowd.

Beef it up a bit first. I broke down during a race once and the genius that towed me back to the pits hooked his tow strap around that exact same model Pro Armor bumper despite my pleas to go direct to the frame. Ripped it off in the first 1/4 mile and ended up hooking to the frame after all. That is a pretty standard sport quad model btw.

Then again, I would probably try to find the owner as those usually run $90.00 or more. Someone just got a lesson in proper bolt torque and loc-tite, lol.

Well, my first idea was to cut apart the factory bumper and weld this one in place, then mount the winch behind it with the cable coming out through it and the fairlead mounted right on the bumper.

Then it dawned on me....Duh!!! It's aluminum!!!!! I cant weld to it!

So here's what I came up with. I basically just drilled some holes and bolted it right where the factory plastic skid plated attached, and left the winch where I already had it mounted. Not exactly what I had wanted to do, but it turned out pretty good and I'm not complaining when I got the thing for free.

Could use some paint, it's pretty scratched up. I'll probably do that when I get a new winch. (current one is just a POS from Harbor Freight) I'm thinking I might spray it with truck bed liner.

I probably would try to figure out who it belonged to if I had found it near home, but I found it on a very busy county road about 50 miles away from home.
