Just place the screw driver in the middle and give it a good whack! You may have to go to each end also but the plate will pop off. Doesn't matter if you damage it since you're getting a new one. After this plate is off the rest of the mater link just pushes out and the chain is loose. On the new master link it's best to have a good pair of small vice grips(as the o-rings will be thick and you have to clamp down to get the pins out far enough to install the new clip.) I just used a pair of vice grips with the side edges ground down to fit in between the pins so I could clamp the plate down and then used a small "baby" Snap on pliers to install the clip. Same pliers I used on stripped carb bowl screws, works wonders! Small Slip Joint Snap on 105P Ignition Pliers Tool | eBay

If you have doubts about the belt, replace it! Use the old one as a back up. Others will tell you about plow use,BUT since you don't have a low range,I'd think it'd be tough on the atv,but I live in North Central Texas not Kansas so I don't know squat about snow plows! OPT

I don't know about pushing snow, but our old 325 boss was ok at pulling something (small trailers) for a short distance. A really wet snow and prolonged use could burn the belt up pretty quickly.
