Default 335 idle problem

so was riding everything fine. we were riding the new lost trails in pa. If you know it is rocky to put litely. it started to run high as we were riding after we stopped first wouldnt go into gear at all. took shifter off dropped back in was fine. The idle was hi so high couldnt but into gear without grinding. Had to start in gear. will go about 15 mph w/o throttle. next day started right up still running hi about 4 hours later wont start at all. carb was cleaned out air filters changed. any ideas?

Check for any throttle cable binding and that you have at least 1/8" slack at the thumb throttle. If this checks out it could be a diaphragm spring, slide needle or carb slide problem. Also could be as simple as trying to lower the idle screw under the carb. OPT

maybe the dia. spring is hanging up or broke if the other checks out. seems like it would be the throttle cable caught on something and holding the idle up.

Dangerous! If you must let kids ride at least keep em on the back with a helmet on! I've seen and heard too many horror stories over the years. OPT
