You didn't mention the battery if it's new or has been load tested? Plus did you check the starter clutch out when you replaced the starter motor. This is where they have a few problems with the one way clutch bearing galling and locking up. Could be the problem on light dimming also when you try to start it. OPT

Look on your model under "magneto" will show the flywheel and the starter clutch assembly and big starter gear. Browse They can either freeze up dragging the battery down or can strip the one way sprague type roller bearings out and the starter motor will just spin and not turn the engine over. Here's another view of it and the price "IF" this is your problem.http://www.cyclepartswarehouse.com/f...2003&fveh=5629

Bump starting in gear take the electric start out of the picture. You've already replaced the starter motor, but if the starter just spins over and the engine doesn't,it could be the starter clutch. Website was just to show you where the clutch is located "IF" this is the problem. OPT

The "starter clutch" or sprag clutch as we called em years ago is just a one way gear and inner bearing that engages the magneto flywheel when the starter is activated. Once cranked and running the this gear remains motionless and the inner bearing just "idles" with the engine and does wear out, freeze up,etc over a period of time. Can cause the starting problems as you described. You have to get into this area and see if this gear engages one way and "free wheels" the opposite direction! Item #7 is the clutch, item #9 is the gear. The big starter gear(that works off the starter motor) is supposed to turn only one direction to lock in the flywheel and turn it to crank! It's supposed to "freewheel" in the opposite direction only! You can try this by hand. If the gear locks the flywheel in in BOTH directions or slips or binds, then the starter clutch bearing is bad and the clutch assembly behind the starter gear has to be replaced! This might be the problem you're having when you said the starter won't work even after replacing the starter motor?. You just have to tear into this area to find out what's wrong,if you've eliminated a starter solenoid as a problem also(just jump the two posts on the solenoid and see if the engine cranks over)!!
