I'm looking at putting a winch on my 08 sportsman 500. How difficult is it to do yourself and any suggestions on the brand. I'm looking at warn winchs.

 

good choice on what your looking at. warn is a very good winch and w/ thier directions and your bike it will be very easy to insstall it your self. i pretty sure your bike is a prewired model for a winch which makes it a snap to hook it up if you get a warn and the correct bracket.

 

It's not a hard job at all, and you should be pre-wired for it. WARN is my winch of choice, but I've also had zero problems with my 2500# Polaris brand winch either. It's been in use since 2008.
