Default Ps-4 5w50.

It looks like Polaris switched the grade from 2W50 to 5W50, wonder when they did this?

PURE POLARIS OIL

Do they really have more corrosion inhibitors than other oils?

Same reason they switched from 0w-40 to 2w-50. Its such a odd ball grade that they do not want people to buy a aftermarkert oil from Amsoil or anybody.

There oil supplier(Polaris does not make oil), just found it expensive to make a odd "one of a kind" 2w-50 and 5w-50 is Little more common. Is my guess.

When they sold 0w-40 it was a bad move becouse everyone else made it also.

This is who supplies the Polaris branded oil. Lubrication Technologies: Advanced Quality Lubricants and Fuels
As far as oil, there was nothing wrong with using 0w40 Mobil1 or Amsoil, plus even Rotella 5w40 which is jaso ma/md approved( motorcycle rated oil) but like a lot of dealers we bought Polaris oil in 55 gallon drums for the shop area along with quarts and gallons and kits for customer take out.Just another oil type the dealers have to keep up with and keep in stock imo. Thanks OPT. So can I run t6 5 w40 year round? Being a 40w will not affect it in any way? I know polaris calls for a 50w. Wil t6 have enough corrosion inhibitors? I do not mind supporting my dealer.

PS4 is a good oil?

One thing about Polaris is all there oils are Full Synthetic. Full Synthetic is Superior to blends or conventional oils .

I run Rotella T6 in my old 750 Honda and my son uses it in has SV1000 Suzuki and haven't had a clutch slippage problem on either machine. It's good oil and doesn't have a lot of friction modifiers like regular car oil does that can affect wet clutches. Of course for Polaris engines with dry clutches you have a little flexibility on oil type. As long as it's synthetic! But don't throw anything heavier than 5wt for the sake of quick upper end lubrication! Oil preference is like politics, everyone has their favorite and won't easily change. OPT

I just got 2 quarts of 5w-50 PS 4 polaris oil. so the saying "you have to use 0w-40 or your top end is going to wear out" is BS. Now Polaris needs to stop saying this crap so you dont have to buy $12.00 oil,... Go figure!!

This just proves you have some leeway on oil choices! You can stick with 0w40 Mobil1,Amsoil,etc or any other good synthetics such as 5w40 Rotella T6 Synthetic or you can stay with the new 5w50 Polaris oil. OPT

Advance Auto Parts currently has buy one get one free on Castrol synthetic, so I just stocked up on the 5W-50. Regular price is $8.99/quart, plus I got some Purolator filters on sale for $2 each at Kmart. Can't beat $11 per oil change.
