Default New Wheels

I have a 2000 polaris sportsman 500. Its stock tire sizes are 25x8x12 on the front and 25x12x10 on the rear. I want to put aftermarket tires and rims sizes 26x10x12 and 26x12x12 respectively. Is this possible? Will I need to make any modifications? Will I have to re-clutch?

Depending on the offset the front wheels might need spacers so the tie-rods don't rub. Some aftermarket wheels have more offset than stock and will work without spacers.

as stated if the offset is more on the new rims clearance shouldn't be a problem, spacers may or may not be needed. A 9" wide just clears the tie rods on stock wheels. Reclutching shouldn't be an issue with 26" tires. many models came with 25" 489's or upgraded to the 26" A.C.T's from the factory. Keep in mind that the wider the steer tire, the harder it will be to steer and control especially in soft loamy/muddy ground unless of course you have power steering.

You need to check with the wheel manufacturer and find out what the offset is. If it is 2+5 (most are) you will probably be ok with clearance.

As for re-clutching... that will be up to you. If you can live with the power loss because of the raised gearing and added weight... then you won't have to re-clutch.
