Exclamation Need Help on 1995 Polaris xplorer.

Hi, I was wondering if anyone would know how to fix the idle on a 1996 Polaris xplorer. The ATV sat for two years and I've pulled it apart to clean it all up and put it back together. I've taken the carberator out and cleaned it all out. I'm having trouble getting it to to stay running while it's in in idle. Would anyone know how to ajust the idle? Also, it runs alot better with the idle if that helps. Thanks for any and all help!!

Make sure you don't have too much slack at the thumb throttle. Have about 1/8" slack only, then try to adjust the idle screw.Plus have the air/fuel screw out about 2 turns from a lightly seated position. If it still doesn't want to idle, then you could still have other issues, you could still have carb problems, compression problem, etc. PLUS if you just "cleaned" a carb and didn't replace worn parts, needle and seat, etc, this could still be the problem, along with draining the tank and using fresh gas. Hey old polaris tech, is the idle screw on these older Polaris models the large one with the thumb screw?

Might you have any carb diagrams for this vintage?

The big screw is the idle adjustment. There is a small screw that is the fuel/air screw that usually sets between 1 1/2 to 2 turns out. These videos should help on carb cleaning and adjustment.
Plus here's one on the later model cv carbs if this is what you have that's very close to the Polaris carbs, but from a KTM. http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=347184
