Loose Drive Shaft

Loose Drive Shaft
I'm new to this so bear with me. I am looking at buying a 2000 Polaris Sportsman 500 from a friend of mine for around $300. He told me some of the stuff wrong with it and its basically a lot of little stuff like brakes, battery, ect. The one thing that bothered me is he said both drive shafts are loose. Loose enough to be able to wiggle them (from what he says). He said as far as putting it in 4WD and shifting gears its completely fine. Also the reason he is selling it so cheap is he really needs the money. We've been friends for years so he would not cheat me. What do you think... should I buy it? Is that fixable? And also do you know where I could get all the plastics from?

You're going to have some play in the cv joints if they are the original ones. Any 13 year old machine will probably need a few things repaired/replaced. Just jack up the machine and turn the rear wheels back and forth to see how much slack you can feel and see. Check the boots for any tears.Same thing on the front. As long as he's being honest with you is the main thing.

If you're looking for oem plastic Cycle Parts Warehouse or Cheap Cycle Parts are about the cheapest online. One after market place that's been around for years is Maier. Sportsman 500 | Maier USA
Plus wraps are getting cheaper and can cover up old plastic in a multitude of colors, camo, etc.
