They call it EBS (Engine Braking Sysytem). Its a different Drive clutch which used the motors compression to hold back the ATV when you let off the throttle. Handy when going down hills and stuff. Without it you just ride the brakes down hills or it will just free wheel down the hill pretty quick.

EBS, if an option, is well worth it. I have it on mine and ride with a friend who does not have it. When descending most grades, I barely touch my brakes, while he is constantly on his. He either has to ride the brakes or constantly jockey the throttle to keep the clutch engaged in order to have some Engine Braking.
