You stated that being a champion of ordering repair parts was a title you'd gladly relinquish. How did YOU obtain that title in the first place .

While I am certainly no great and mighty being of omnipotent existence, I can say that my Scrambler has been through hell and back without letting me down.

Kagey,its real tough to ''Give it a rest '' as you say.Nobody was more ''PRO POLARIS'' than me in these forums,as many forum users will tell you.It;s not that I am now against Polaris quads,it;s the fact that how the dealership AND Polaris has turned their backs on my Lemon 4x4 that leads me in the other direction.I do beleive that the Sportsman is a fine 4x4,and have many friends that ride them with very few problems.But,I cannot and will not ignore Polaris not responding to my letters addressing my problems.What good is it to me or anybody else to have a new quad that I spent hard earned $$$ on,to be in the shop for months at a time with repair problems?I did'nt buy a used quad so I could ''ENJOY' the trails of Michigan with a new quad and not have to worry about repair problems.I will tell EVERYBODY who ask for an opionion of Polaris quads of my bitter dis-appointment with Polaris lack of responses to my problem 4x4 Sportsman.If you were a first time quad buyer and come to the forums for a quad reveiw,I;d let you know too.Than you make your own choice.Sorry if I bore you,but as I once defended Polaris,I must now try and see that others dont get burned as I am now.

I'm sorry, but I have to disagree with both of these statements and also get my two cents worth in on this thread.

First off, Polaris does NOT make a true performance/sport/race quad. The Sport 400 is the closest they come to it, but it in no way can compete against the likes of Banshees, 250R's, and so forth. So, Polaris does NOT have a machine for every rider.

Secondly, saying they have "neat ideas" is really an opinion. Saying that these ideas are "neater" than anyone elses is stretching is a bit. Besides, I think everyone here would agree that an idea is one thing, but what really matters is how well the machine performs. Polaris does have some good points on some machines, and they have impacted the industry with a different way of doing things. But another argument would ensue when discussing the necessity of these ideas.

Lastly, as everyone here can see, there is a lot to talk about when Polaris is brought up. THAT'S why there are so many posts here. Whether is reliability, performance, mods, or comparisons, there's simply a LOT of things to talk about.

 

I have to agree here. Why in the world should Bill need to "Give it a rest!"? Bill is a Polaris owner just like many others here. Should his voice not be heard. I bitched about my Arctic Cat steering heavy for a while and nobody in that thread told me to Give it a rest! Polaris's innovation is why there are so many posts here. They have a machine for every type of rider. They have the neatest ideas of anyone. They just haven't got everything together on customer service and keeping a better percentage of their bikes running correctly. I think they would dominate sales like madmen if they built as solid of a bike as Honda, but they don't. If I knew for a fact that I could buy a polaris and get Honda quality reliability out of it, I wouldn't think twice. I would trade next week. A lot of people are probably the same way. I've thought about getting a Sportsman several times with the same thing in my mind every time- "Maybe that just happened to that one guy, i'll probably get a good one, Not all of them mess up like that, that guy had a bad dealer probably". Then when I get real interested in it, another polaris owner tells a new horror story and it wakes me up like a bucket of ice water in the crotch. Truthfully, I was jet-set to trade until I heard from Bill. I'll never consider it again now. Thats $6,500 I can't afford to risk. But I'll tell you one thing! I am still interested to hear about Polaris bikes and I will continue to talk about them good and bad in this forum despite the fact that I don't own one. I think they are neat, and I like riding them. I just won't buy one.

I'll trade ya a Lemon 1998 Yamaha for your Lemon Polaris????... I'll even cover the pick up and delivery... Mine runs good now, except for no brakes.
Atleast Polaris is just ignoring ya, I had Yamaha tell me that it was ALL my fault. I explained to the guy on the phone that MY only fault was buying a Yamaha in the first place...
I've heard that I ran it too hard, I didn't change the oil, that it had been sunk, a "small" manufacturing defect, "That noise is fine, it just needs to get broke in!"
I had a service guy complain that the small dings in the front bumper equaled neglect and abuse... (I came really close to showing him some ABUSE!!!... That guy totally pissed me off..!!)
So, when you wanna make the trade?.. Like I say, it runs good now, just too many bad memories...

 

Its real simple, Back than, Polaris had more ATV problems than any other manufature around, thus accounting for more posts than anyone else.

 

Because Polarisriders.com is all but dead!
