1997 explorer not charging
#1
What should the stator resistance be between the two yellow wires on a 1997 300 explorer 4x4 ? I checked they are not grounded out. No charge to battery. The reading I get seems to varies between .1 and .2 ohms

Should read 0.3 between the Yellows and Yellow/red. No shorts to ground. You're with in the 20% range. Most times charging problem are the regulator/rectifier if the wires are connected properly to the regulator and since you have at least 0.2 reading on the stator wires, I'd replace the regulator. Ok thanks Polaris tech. It seems we replaced the regulator just two years ago for the same problem. Is there something that could be taking it out? Also at the same time we replaced the radiator fan switch because it was on all the time. And the fan is on all the time again with the key on. Are they somehow related?

No,they're not related as far as to what can happen between them. Regulators can go out at any time, plus the sensor on the radiator can to. The sensor has probably shorted out if the fan is on constantly. Just take it to any auto store and find a replacement instead of a high dollar Polaris sensor.Item #10 Dirt Cheap Yamaha, Honda, Arctic Cat & Polaris OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse
