Help! Cv boot tear

I just used pliers to, never thought it was a problem.

Not really a problem but the correct tool can get the clamp tighter and keep the joint sealed better.

I've cleaned the outer joint axle with gas and am going to get a CV Boot Kit from a 2nd choice polaris dealer since my local one is out.

Will fix tomorrow! Will this fix the 4WD?

What? Tighter? does not matter what tool you use, the proper one or a pair of pliers, the clamp will only go so tight and will seal either way,

No this won't fix your 4wd. A torn boot won't make it stop working either. If the joint wasn't broken you have another problem.

The boots only job is to protect the CV joint from mud,sand ,dirt and water and keep the grease in and clean.
Your AWD is another issue.

I know, i forgot to mention that when i was taking it apart, the joint axle just fell off, isn't there supposed to be a something to hold it in?

Item#4 is the shaft circlip that locks the cv joint in.If it's missing/bent up replace it. Dirt Cheap Yamaha, Honda, Arctic Cat & Polaris OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse

I found it!!! Thanks, OPT!

Gonna get a friend of mine who's working a job near a polaris place that has CV Boots in stock.

Will repair and report back!
