Northeast MN is where I'm from. (N. of Duluth 90 miles, thru Virginia, small town of Cook.) bought my 99' Scrambler 400 this year, and will be racing it this winter in a couple different ice racing series. Previously had a 95 Explorer, modified slightly(?) kicked butt last 2 years with that. (4x4 unstudded class) mods on the new one will includ clutching, pipe, and some other ice racing secrets.. summer riding: I can ride right from my house to any number of different areas, as many miles as I want. These are NOT designated riding areas, but as long as we don't abuse it, then nobody has a problem with us riding. Sound like a riders dream? It is!

I live in Van Wert County Ohio. It's about 45 minutes East from Ft. Wayne IN. I've got a '99 Scrambler 400 w/ RCR kit. I don't use the 4WD a lot but it's nice to have when I'm riding with some one, not just myself. That way we can hopefully stay "unstuck". About everyone who has ever rode it or raced always say the same thing. "Nice 4 wheeler, I can't believe that thing is 4X4!"
Not the perfect do-all ride I admit, but a decent choice for me.

I own a 1998 Scrambler 400L. Mine is stock now with only a K&N filter. If you want to talk to more Scrambler owners or learn more about your machine check out Adam's Page- Scrambler's Domain

i own a 99 scrambler 400 with the hpd tail mod engine i blew my first one up. i have done alot of testing on carbs clutches and 3 different pipes. i feel the 400 scrambler is the best all around performance machine.if you have any questions i would sure try to answer them.

PeeWee,
Which pipes did you try? How did they compare? How big a difference did the carbs you tried make? Any recommendations on clutches?
Scott.

I use to own a 97 Scrambler 500 and just 4 weeks ago I traded it for a 99 Scrambler 400. I love my new 400, nice machine and has great acceleration and speed. Mine is all stock, four wheeling around here isn't very competitive so there's no need for me to spend a few hundred bucks on performance parts. I've added a speedometer and fuel gauge, and I'm considering adding on a silencer to make it sound nice and loud. Leaning on HPD silencer but I'm still not sure yet.

sburdman i used the psi, hpd, hotseat. i personally like the hotseat it fits great and you can adjust it for low and high end with shims. the hotseat silencer sound great also. i have tested the 38 mikuni roundslide a 38 mikuni tmx and the kehin 39 mm. i like the kehin 39 it runs through the rpms without any lean areas. watchout with the tmx because it has a very lean midrange. the roundslide worked ok with the ufos but it would vibrate allover and wouldnt idle down unless you wire tied the carb down. for cluthing in my hpd trail mod engine i use 52 gram weights red and yellow primary and a white secondary with a 45-40 helix. the rpm run at 6968 and exhaust temp is about 1225 full throttle.

I own a 95 scrambler 400, aeen pipe, clutch kit, milled head, hdp chain tenssioner, and k/n filter. The wife rides a 98 scrambler plain jane. bothe reun great in fact the 98 has better bottom end and can pull the front up like nothing the 95 has great top end and really screams. We live in Big Piney Wyoming where we ride on forest trails, blm land and some dunes located around 100 miles to the south. Both do great in all areas however just a bit heavy in the sand but the 95 still surprises a few out there. If anyone is ever up in this area be sure and give me a call. Others in the stable are a 94 400L, 98 TBlazer, TRX 90 (94), 97 Lt 80.
