Default Noisy clutch in Magnum 500

New to the form so here goes. I got a 1999 Magnum 500 4x4. Clutch is noisy at idle. I pulled the cover and it looks like maybe there should be bushing on 3 I am assuming weights? a bushing that maybe keeps it from clattering at idle. Looked online and can't find a clear picture of it. Looking at a primary rebuild kit or maybe this clutch EPI Performance ATV and Snowmobile Clutch Kits: POLARIS • 500 MAGNUM 4x4 99-02 (EBS) • SPORT UTILITY Any suggestions?

What usually causes the clattering noise on the front clutch is wear on the spider where the 6 guide buttons ride, either from worn out buttons, plus sometimes replacing these really don't help if the spider has deep grooves. Also plain bearings in the clutch do wear out and at times I've had clutches that would stick on one of the 3 counter weights. Plus the one way drive where the belt rides has a fiber and metal washer that can wear and cause problems. so would you replace the whole clutch or just rebuild it? I don't even see the buttons in my clutch....

Inspect the area closely where the 6 buttons ride. If they are deeply grooved rebuilding may not help, plus you can just take the clutch in and let someone look at it. Here's a video on taking one apart that's similar to yours.

That helps bunches! Thanks! Mine have a little groove but not too bad. Has no buttons...they are gone! Gonna try to go get them and just replace them first and see how that works. Thanks again!

You have to have that spider tool that was shown in the video(about $90) or just let someone rebuild it.
