Default Clutch cleaning questions?

Does it matter what scotch brite pad I use? green? red?

If I have no brake cleaner, whst else can I use? Acetone? Varsol?

If it's just general cleaning use compressed air first to blow out most of the belt dust in an open area. This helps the most. If you want to break the "glaze" on the clutch sheaths just use the plain old old green Scotch brite pads and cheap Walmart Super tech spray brake cleaner. Try to stay away from the fiber washer.Lacquer thinner, acetone, etc are a little too "hot" to use around some plastic parts.

Thanks OPT. I will post pics when I get it apart and blown off. It is only a year old, so may not need the sheaves serviced.

Only a year old! I'd just blow the dust out and keep riding!

Thanks OPT!! Will do. Going to take cover off now, and will grab pics.

Should I wrestle the belt off before I blow it out?

Just pull belt up from the middle to get slack and walk it off the rear clutch(replace it facing the same way),then you'll be able to push the front clutch in and get into all the crevices with the air gun. Just hit the rear clutch in the middle with air and dust will fly everywhere from inside the helix area. Just be in an open area when you do this.

I always wonder why there's not some type of filter on the intake side of clutch housing. All the dust in there can't be good on the clutches. I blow mine out a lot for sure after a dusty ride.
