Default front diff seal change

hey guys, i am new to the forum but could use a little help. i have a 2012 polaris sportsman and i am trying to change the seal on my front diff where the drive shaft enters into the differential. i am under the impression that you can just knock the roll pin out of the shaft and it should all slide back and you can access the seal from there. is this correct? i have removed the wheel and given the roll pin a few whacks using a punch and it hasnt budged. even tried a little WD40 on the pin with the same results. am i doing something wrong or does anyone have any suggestions? there isnt much room down there to work. any help would be greatly appreciated guys.

Beat to have an air hammer with a ground down bit to remove the roll pin as it's in tight! I would also get a new one as most times you can deform the pin, plus wont fit as tight if you reuse it. The prop shaft leading from the transmission to the front diff most times has to be driven back off the front diff shaft(after the roll pin is out) either with a dull punch on the u-joint or better yet an air hammer again. It can slide backwards on the transmission shaft enough to pull the front diff input cover. Dirt Cheap Yamaha, Honda, Arctic Cat & Polaris OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse
