drive belt break in

Default drive belt break in

i just put a new drive belt on my sportsman but how do i break it in?

I just put a dayco hpx on my sportsman 700 and it says for best results to not exceed 50 mph for the first 20 miles

i heard on another site the manual says 10hrs for belt break-in, does it really take that long?

Doesn't take that long. Take a nice trail ride. Vary speed, don't hammer on it right away, and be sure to use low when putzing, pulling, or mudding.

That's good to kniow. I have a bud that has a ranger and the P dealer told him 10+hrs.

k i got about 1.5hrs of light riding on it now i just wanted to know when its safe to hammer it, belts aren't real cheap

10 hours is like almost 100 miles. It does not take that long.
Here,s a Arctic Cat Video on it, Its a sled belt but same Sh## different pile.

that being said i got about 3hrs 50miles ride time on my new belt, do you think it would be okay to drive it hard now?
