Post Considering Polaris Trail Boss 250

Hello I'm looking at buying a trail boss and just wondering what needs to be done in order to convert premix back to oil injection. Also, what would be the cost of a new or used oil injector. Any help would be appreciated. It's either an '86 or '87

I'd be interested in this too. My 97 is running on premix.

The tires are bald on it and the wrong sizes. Would 500 be a little too steep, I only paid 600 for my 90 Trail Boss 4x4

I paid $600 for my 97 4x2. I've seen nicer ones gong for $850-$1000. $500 sounds about right if it has some minor issues.

Do you know how much a used oil pump would cost and where I could get one?

Too much of hassle to premix. Previous owner blocked off pump

Depending on if the pump has been removed along with the bushing, gear and other parts it could get expensive. 1987 Polaris 250 Trail Boss W877527 Parts, 1987 Polaris 250 Trail Boss W877527 OEM Parts - BikeBandit.com

I recently had same interest and did a bunch of searching on forums. Came across a couple good threads that explain procedure to test the pump. I came to the conclusion that given that I am not well versed in the pump and related items (throttle cable, adjustments, etc), I am not going to risk trying to switch back myself.

One thing I will probably do is plumb a line to the oil tank with a shut off valve on it, to utilize the tank for handy/clean oil storage, then just dispense amount needed into a small measuring cup when gassing up.
