Exclamation swamped???

i have an 05 sportsman 500 and i got in a pretty deep water hole and i got stuck, then she seemed like she wanted to die then it stalled!!!! the front end was sitting higher out of the water but the water was almost up to the rack at the rear. we pulled it out of the water and i pulled the plug out and turned it over a few times, but no water was spitting out the hole, but water was running out the tail pipe. the oil is not milky at all either what should i do next?

Stand it up and drain the water out of the exhaust and it should start. Also check your belt housing for water

If there wasn't any water spitting out and the oil isn't milky you probably didn't inhale any water, as you are thinking. I'd check electrical connections by finding them and pulling them apart to see if any have water in them. I'm sure there are other things to try but this is my thought. If you find any, dry them out and put dielectric grease on the fittings to keep any more water to get into them.

Would be the first thing on my list to check along with any water contamination in the engine oil, transmission or front differential fluid that could have come in through the vent lines.

If the filter got wet then there are a few things to look at. From what you said the front was up higher. The intake draws air from just above the front of the seat. If that wasn't under water then check the airbox seal and make sure the drain tube under the airbox has the plug in it.
