Question 04 predator 500 need help..

I have a predator 500 last Sunday me and some buddies road all day well on the way back to the truck my pred just died on me and wouldn't start back up. It acts like it wants to crank but doesnt. I pull started it (pop clutch in 2nd) and it fired up and ran while I left in in 2nd but if I pressed the gas or pull in the clutch it would cut back off.... any ideas?

Check the simple things first like the plug, air filter, fuel flow to the carb. Plus if it's been a while since you had the valve lash checked/adjusted it could be a problem. This is a bucket and shim valve system and takes awhile to do it.Dirt Cheap Yamaha, Honda, Arctic Cat & Polaris OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse

I've never really worked on quads much I know how to check plug and air filter but how do I know if fuel is getting to the carb?

Just pull the fuel line from the carb, hold the hose in a container and crank the engine over.If the fuel pump is working ok you'll have a good stream of fuel.If you don't it could either be from tight valves, not allowing a good enough vacuum from the carb to the fuel pump or the pump it self may have some dirt/trash in it.Even the fuel valve itself could be a problem on fuel flow..
