2001 Scrambler 500

Well im narrowing down the problems, I got the 4wheeler running but now i cant get it to idle right. It will idle for awhile but then start to sputter a little bit and die's. Starts right back up idles does the same thing -
Also it will die if i hit the throttle to hard, if i go easy goes right up and goes and long as i keep driving its fine till i stop and try to accelerate again. But somtimes it will just get up and go like nothing is wrong
Changed the cam shaft
Cleaned the carb
Checked the timing over and over along with checked the valves
New fuel pump also

If you just cleaned the carb and didn't replace any worn parts,it still could be a carb related.Parts that wear the most are the needle valve and o-ring and the slide needle on this model.Plus on this model the float setting is critical.

Ill have to look, i have a Manuel but it only says how to set the ones with metal on them all i have is 99% plastic and little metal on the needle.
I do not see a long metal piece to set
Far as o rings i did change them

Needle and seat(needle valve) is a critical wear item and hard to tell just by looking at them if you just cleaned them. Here's a breakdown on the BST40 Mikuni carb that's similar to yours that's used on a KTM.The BST-40 Bible - ADVrider
