xpedition tranney problems

Default xpedition tranney problems

Hey guys new here I have recently bought a 2000 425 4x4 expedition and the trans slips at low rpm when u gas up it will grab ? what will cause this. Also what engine oil does this machine take I have no manual thanks for any input...

Take a deep gulp of air. Uses 5.5 quarts of oil!Since this is a wet clutch system,I'd use a good synthetic oil(not car oil) for this as may plain synthetic oils have friction modifiers that can cause clutches to slip.(Rotella 5w40 is one I'd recommend as it doesn't have modifiers,plus designated oils for clutch type machines) Slipping is probably related to either of the two types of clutches this machine uses. Either the clutch plates or the centrifugal type clutch could be the problem.Plus there is an adjustment screw on the outer case that may help.
