FINALLY got it swapped out. You were not kidding about how hard it would be without pulling the clutch. I will own a clutch puller for this bike very soon. None of the shops in the area had one for sale and none of them would rent me theirs. Also, could not find the bolt you described anywhere. Oh well, got it done the hard way.

One more question... do I need to lube any of this? I've already closed it up and it is working like a charm. If I need to lube it I will crack it back open again. Just let me know.

I truly appreciate your guidance. You are the man!!!

Thank you!

Unless the bendix cup(front part that you push down) was greased up before you installed it,this is what I always greased up along with putting a little grease on both ends of the bendix shaft. Kinda hard to do the bottom of the bendix since it's installed, but you can grease the front shaft and the cup. Plain old bearing grease will do.

Appreciate the response. I've decided that it is not worth pulling it all apart to add a little more grease. There was some old grease in the bendix cup. It'll just have to do until I need to work in that area again.

Thanks for all of the advise!
