Default engine off/run switch!!!!!

`02 SPORTSMAN 500 ATV`s been sitting for 2 weeks and went to fire it up....nothing. Thought maybe my power to battery maintainer or maintainer was problem. Volt meter showed everything good just no power being delivered at the ATV. Then it dawned on me to wiggle the red kill switch and allas we have power. I`ve done this before and let it slide. It`s like the switch cleans itself when you work it back and forth. What is the best solution?

Usually if you tear it apart, springs will sometimes fly out and you can have a mess on your hands. That's why I kept a few in stock for a few model years and it's not an uncommon problem for this control switch to either short out or loose contact internally.Just a lot of small parts that have to work together. Gotta figure you have the headlight switch, reverse limiter and emergency kill switch all in one control. You can also check the two harness connectors first that go into the switch housing for dirt/trash plus use a little electric grease along with checking the wiring leading down into the pod area.If you're lucky could be just a shorted wire.Plus this switch has been updated.Item #16. I`m with you on deoxit. Use it on my TDI. Did you disassemble the kill switch or just spray it from the outside?

I got my gold deoxit at radio shack. Had a reoccurring check engine light with a code for glow plugs on a TDI VW. Deoxit fixed it. Dealers charge up to $500 and put in a new harness to fix the same thing. I`ve read about corvette people using I on their maf sensor pins and claim a boost in performance and mpg....not. It is a good product though. I will be using it on my kill switch.
