Default 03 Sportsman 700 no start has ign upgrade

I have a 03 Sportsman 700 as stated. It has the ignition upgrade done to it already. I was backing it out of the garage back in September and it suddenly just died. We'll it was hot the cold so I am just now getting around to messing with it. At first I was able turn the key it would run for a second then die. Then all of the sudden it stopped running even for the second now all it will do it turn over won't fire. Checked for spark and there is none. Took the flywheel cover off and noticed that the seal behind the stator was leaking. Cleaned the flywheel, stator and replaced all three seals why I had it apart cleaned it all with electrical cleaner put it back and still no spark. Am I screwed? Did the oil probably burn out my stator? (There wasn't that much) Could there be another underlying problem I have over looked? Any help would be appreciated.

If the seal that's behind the outer cover leaked possible it could have shorted out the stator.Item #12.Dirt Cheap Yamaha, Honda, Arctic Cat & Polaris OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse Best to download the earliest Kokusan equipped 700 service manual and check the ignition flow chart in Chapter 10 plus stator resistance checks are at the top right hand of the schematic diagram. If it appears to be a bad stator, think part #4010901 is the one for your model.http://gh-ftp.com/ORV%20Manuals/Pola...V%20-%20SM.pdf

Thanks for the info OPT... I finally got around to testing today and found this right off the bat...

Detection Coil
OR to W - specs 0.10 ohms I have 0.23 up to 0.75

so i am guessing that is my problem right off the bat....

Possible as resistance specs allow only + or - 20%. But go through all the checks before you order a new stator.
