Polaris spare parts to keep on hand
Hi there,
My husband and I just took delivery of 3 different Polaris models, Sportsman 400 HO (2011), Trail Boss 300 (2012) and Phoenix 200 (2014) overseas. We are 16+ hours away from the dealer and will have to rely on local motorcycle techs to help us with servicing. We will be back in the US in April and thought we could bring some of the most frequently needed parts back with us. We are complete novices when it comes to motorcycles or ATVs! Any advice we could get from experienced folks would be great.
Thank you in advance!

I only know the 400 (455) because its the same motor as the my 500H.O.
Silicon the rope handle down or dirt and water gets in the recoil and wears stuff.
I would bring a aftermarket Bendix drive ($70) and Starter($70). They work as good as the much more expensive Polaris OEM ones $250-$300 and seem to be a weak spot on the Fugi motors over time.
The Bendix (below) is inside the pull rope cover and easy to change.
The Starter is under the seat and airbox.

Service manuals as the owners manuals just cover the basics on service. Being 16 hrs away from the nearest dealer will help you along with area "motorcycle techs" that may not be entirely familiar with your machines. Either a hard copy for each machine from the dealer,on ebay or a cheap pdf online manual. Polaris ATV Service Manuals PDF Download

Many many thanks
Dear All,
The power of this forum is amazing! I thought I might have to wait for a week or more for a response. Never did I dream I get such great input so quickly. Thank you so much for all your cost saving suggestions and terrific ideas.
When we get back and get using them, we'll post some photos!
have a great weekend.

I forgot to ask about tires, helmets and goggles
Hi,
The dealer here charges $300/tire! You can't find them in the regular tire stores...(I'm in East Africa). Any suggestions for muddy conditions? We will be going on dirt roads and footpaths through fields...
We are going to offer ATV tours of the surrounding area and will need helmets and goggles. An inexpensive but good helmet is what we'll need. The goggles can just be the little motorcycle touring types...I have not idea what they are called or where to look for them.
Thanks again in advance,
Maasai Momma
