Default Wheel Studs?

My buddy has a 2004 sportsman 400 and I have a 2008 sportsman 800 he wants to buy my original wheels and tires and we already know the bolt pattern will work but his wheels studs are to short to fit the 08 wheels so the ? Is could he just buy the exact same studs that come on the 08's and will they work in the 04 sportsman wheel hubs?..............Thanks for any help and or suggestions

Splined studs can just be driven out and can be replaced with longer ones.

I got these through SuperATV.com. Polaris Extended Wheel Studs #186 : Polaris : Sportsman / ATV : Sportsman Accessories They are wheel studs that offer about 3/8" extra threaded length. The old ones can be pressed out and the new ones pressed in. Worked well on a 2006 Sportsman X2 I used to have.

If you're replacing steel wheels with alloy you have to put longer studs on too.
