Default Sportsman Front Differential Problems

I am wondering if I can get some input on the differential in my 2007 sportsman 500 HO EFI. It has been an ongoing problem; heavy steering, binding, and pulling right or left. The AWD has always engaged/disengaged properly though. I had a really hard ride the last time out and I thought it was time to investigate. I pulled the diff and I found the armature plate? was twisted and torn in a few spots, both output hubs have worn/torn spots, and some of the pins that stick out of the ring gear are gone.

Are the pins in the ring gear replaceable?

Is the wear on the outer hubs too far gone?

Is this more money in parts then a complete remanufactured diff?

Thanks for your input

Doesn't show that they are. Pinion assy shows to have the pin. Best to replace both ring and pinion gear as a set or it won't last, but costs almost as much as a complete differential. Give this place a call and see if they can help.Rox Technologies :: Polaris Not necessary to post twice on the same problem in normal and expert threads.

Thank You Old Polaris Tech for your post. I will get a complete gear box for this thing. It sucks because the old one still works; but for how long is the question. I apoligise for my duplicate post.

ROX said they do not carry a gearbox for my quad. Do you have any other suggestions where to look for a reasonably priced complete gear box?

A lot of different places offer "rebuild kits" such as new bearings, aluminum roll cages, but when it comes down to the whole diff when the ring/pinion gears are needed I've only found a couple places that offer rebuilt diffs and most are for the Razr and Ranger. Some might replace your diff, but doesn't say.About the only alternatives if they don't work are used ones on ebay(in better condition than yours) that you can rebuild or just breakdown and order one from online places such as Cycle Parts Warehouse,Cheap Cycle Parts,Partzilla, etc.New ones even from these places aren't cheap.

Depending on which model you have, the 2007 500 efi had either the Demand drive front diff or the adc front diff. Dirt Cheap Yamaha, Honda, Arctic Cat & Polaris OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse
