Looking at a 2007 500HO that looks to be in pretty decent shape and is selling for very cheap. The bad is that it needs a wiring harness. The guy says that the wiring harness melted just below the seat area. Something about the previous owner having wired in a larger battery. He said the bike worked great before the wiring harness fried. The price is quite low lending itself well to possible repair. However, I am worried about what else might be fried that I won't know about. What other items should I be worried about having to replace (ie. cdi, epm, seepometer pod etc.)?

Possible that it could have been an ecm over heating that caused the problem along with the battery on the wiring harness melting. New harness is around $250 (possible to find a used one cheaper on ebay),the ecm around $200 if this is the case.As far as other modules, speedo, cdi, etc being affected you won't know until it's all hooked up. Could be bargain or cost more than you anticipate. Usually does anyway. Depends on how cheap you can get it for and how much to get it back in good running shape. Worst case scenario, parting one out piece by piece can be profitable if you don't want to tie up more money than it's worth.Machines like this can be a crap shoot as you never know.
