CDI for 2007 vs 2006 polaris hawkeye

I needed to replace my broken CDI on my 2006 Hawkeye (which has sat for about 9 months now
...). I bought a blackbox aftermarket CDI for a 2007 hawkeye because there were none for the 2006. Now that I've hooked it up my ATV won't fire. I'm not sure if it's the fault of the CDI or if it's the fact that it's sat for 9 months.
Is there any real difference between the two part numbers? The CDI physically hooked up fine so I figured I was good.
Any info/ideas would be helpful, thanks.

Pull the plug and ground it to the cylinder and crank the engine engine over to see if you have spark. If you do then the next logical thing is the carb. If it's been sitting for 9 month even if you had stabilizer in it,the fuel can evaporate from the carb vent and make a mess of things.Made the same mistake on my old Honda by not cranking it up enough to keep the fuel circulating through all four carbs. Float needles can stick, jets can stop up.

At least check for spark. If you do have, then clean the carb. Only way to tell is to try it as most likely you can't return it anyway since it's an electrical item.Does show three different cdis for the Hawkeye. May or may not be a big difference.

There's no spark when I unplug the wire from the plug, placed a screwdriver in the plug, and held the metal shaft near the engine. So I'm going to say it isn't sparking. I've got a new CDI.
One other strange thing is that the display won't light up (nothing will get power) unless I wiggle the connector going to the kill switch. I'm not sure if that could stop it from sparking, but still allow the computer to power up.
Any ideas welcome, and thanks for your help so far

If you have the oem cdi hook it up and check for spark.Yes a switch or wiring short could have something to do with the display,so can the main fuse holder or wiring problems. Before I'd throw any more parts at it I'd at least get a cheap 5 buck manual that has a trouble shooting guide along with the wiring schematic that can help you out.2006 Polaris Hawkeye Service Manual PDF Download
