Default 2005 polaris magnum 330

Here is my problem. I bought this used atv from a guy who said that it needed some electrical work. the guy he bought it from by passed the ecm since then the ecm has been replaced and I am getting no power at all. I have gone through all the wires using a wire diagram and taking apart the connectors and dissembling the kill switch to clean them. Still no power. The solenoid that was on it was a 3 prong and the wire diagram uses a 4 prong. So I am switching that tomorrow. Should there be power going to the ECM from the key switch if the key is off?

Yes power goes through the ecm with the key off as that was the major reason for the Chinese ecm recalls in the first place. Some would over heat and have caught fire. Even the silver Sure Power usa made modules can fail. All the circuit breakers are in the ecm such as power to the dash, ignition, fan, charging, etc. The 330 ecms should have been under the general ecm recall list, but wasn't. If it's already been replaced once with the silver ecm, then just get another one on ebay or here.Item#23.Dirt Cheap Yamaha & Polaris OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse

You can still have power to the ignition switch, but still have problems with it running with a bad ecm.. Hope the ignition switch is the problem though.

You can ohm out the switch to eliminate it as the problem. If you narrow it down to the ecm ebay has the updated #2203349 module. http://www.ebay.com/itm/ECM-brain-box-polaris-330-trail-boss-magnum-2203349-/231060922364?pt=Motors_ATV_Parts_Accessories&hash=item35cc4ddffc&vxp=mtr

Does the engine at least turn over with the ignition switch? Have you checked for spark at the plug if it does turn over? If the engine doesn't turn over, pull the connector at the switch. You'll have power either to the red or red/black harness wire. Have the key in the off position. With a volt meter set on ohms check the readings on the pins inside of the switch that align with the White/Red wire and Red/White wire. Then check the pins again with the switch in the start position. Should be a different reading. If I remember correctly the ecm controls charging, battery protection, starter lock out, fan, along with several other circuit breakers. Since you're the third owner that previous owners have messed with the wiring, could be anything thing, but the ecm module was the most common electrical problem on the 330 as well as all the other models that had this module.

I stated the motor using a screw driving on the solenoid touching the posts and turning the key switch.
