Default Tire choice for 2003 330 magnum

Looking for new rubber as its time...don't need to drop $500 but need some direction

What are sizes? Limitations? Or do I need factory size?

Anybody got any leads?

I have a 350 wolverine and I just bought sti black diamond atr's in my stock size and have been really happy with them. They're not overly expensive... not the lightest tire but not that heavy either. They are 6 ply so that makes them a bit heavier than my stock dunlops which are 2 ply. They are also radial and I like the feel of radials better than bias ply tires. It really comes down to what kind of conditions you ride in. I ride a lot of hard pack, roots, rocks, not a lot of mud. They are great tires for those kinds of conditions. If you mostly ride mud and snow, go with a deeper lug mud tire. These can handle mud just fine but are more of an all around tire. I was going to go with 25" tires over my stock 23" but I didn't want to lose any power with a heavier tire. I was considering going with itp mudlites as well which the 25" tires are actually lighter than the 23" black diamonds I bought.

Take a look at the Carlisle AT489, comes in either 3 or 6 ply.

What sizes are on it?

I would imagine the OEM were 25x8x12 front, and 25x10x12 rear. You can go bigger, but it has a negative effect on power and probably handling. If you don't need bigger, then there is no reason to do so.

The Black diamonds mentioned are good tires in a nice all-terrain type tread. The XTR's are the same but with over an inch of tread depth. i'd get the XTR's, personally, as they will last a long time, and either can be had for well under $500 for a set. They are radials, and at 6 ply you will have to experiment with air pressure to get a nice ride. I ended up at 1.5 PSI on my old 450 Foreman with a nice ride. The nice thing about 6-plys on a quad is that they are like run-flats. Pull the core and you may notice very little.

Otherwise, you could fill in the blank here with a number of different tires, all of which are pretty good. Really depends on what you want and where you ride.

Tire discussions are like oil threads in that you will get 1000 different opinions, and all of them are likely right.

EDIT: Looking at some spec sheets, this machine may have had 24" from the factory. This limits tire choice somewhat, but there are still several choices. Unfortunately the ATR's are only made in one width in 24" on a 12" wheel. It is certainly tempting to go with 25"...

Go to denniskirk.com...Lots of tires $80 or less in those sizes. Kenda Bear claws are $59 for 25- 8-12...Zillas are $82.50
