Never saw one that had the Predator carb swap, but anythings possible. Carbs are similar, with exception of the air cap/diaphram and the carb vent.Problem is the Predaors' carb is the Mikuni BSR42 while yours is the BST40 which is slightly smaller. May not be able to cram it in the intake manifold. Unless your carb is broken or corroded a simple rebuild kit could help.http://www.ebay.com/itm/Polaris-Scrambler-500-1998-1999-2000-2001-2002-Carb-Carburetor-Kit-/381225011254?hash=item58c2c80836&vxp=mtr

Was going to try rebuilt but the case has jb weld in
Multiple areas so afraid I would
Cause more damage.
Weird thing is ran great sat for few weeks and
Now will only stay running with starter fluid.
Was just hoping for the easiest fix with new carb

If it just stays running with ether, then you could just have trash in the jets.Plus not a bad idea to check valve clearance along with the cam lobes themselves. Even though it's a 2001 model, and has the HO cam,you never know..
